A long standing tradition at Viator has been the Winter Arts festival. It’s that time of year again, and the festival is happening on Sunday, Dec. 8th, from 2:00-3:30pm. The festival will have all of its typical events. However, this year the students will be able to join the fun. Alongside the Fine Arts department’s showcase of their holiday cheerfulness, students and teachers will be able to participate in a Variety Show. Students and staff will be able to sign up to perform in front of their peers, parents and teachers. Students can sing a song, act out a skit, juggle, show off a weird talent, or maybe some stand up comedy! This talent show is a new activity for students to show their holiday spirit and become more involved in the community.
“It’s not usually what I remember happening, but I think that it is really cool that students are being given the opportunity to perform,” said sophomore Juliana Milano.
Other students are excited to see their peers perform.
“I’m not really the type of person who likes to be on stage, but I think it would be super cool to see my friends up there,” said Ava Walton ‘25.
Alongside being a bonding activity, the Variety Show this year at the festival is helping Saint Viator raise awareness for the annual Toy Drive. Community members that come to the festival can pay their admission fee with toys that will help their favorite class in the competition. Every year, the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes compete to see who can bring in the most toys for charity. The class with the most spirit for this competition will get an out-of-uniform day.
If seeing friends, peers, and even teachers perform in the Variety Show this year sounds interesting, one can make their way down to the Jeuck Auditorium on Sunday, December 8th from 2:00-3:30pm to experience Christmas cheer, donate toys, have fun with friends, and more.
