From the land of ice and fire decades after the Bjork phenomenon, a breath of fresh jazzy-pop music air will land to the delight and enchantment of Chicagoans and jazz aficionados across U.S. cities and Canada.
From Dallas, to Seattle with “The Windy City” in between, the cello virtuoso, singer-songwriter from Reykjavik, Iceland Laufey Lin Bing Jónsdóttir will bring on stage her “Bewitched” album enchanting the senses with her sultry, soothing and classically trained voice.
The Chicago Theatre will be the perfect intimate venue for the presentation of the foreigner musician, that currently resides in Los Angeles. Laufey is a pleasant organic surprise for younger generations, who puts her multitalent to the service of modern jazz captivating audiences in Europe and Asia, in a global market saturated with explicit lyrics and forced, copy and paste, at times aesthetically disturbing performers that resort to vulgarities for the sake of the publicity stunt.
The vocalist gives artist a good name just to looking at her impressive resume for a twenty four year old performer which includes, a soloist stint at Iceland Symphony Orchestra, finalist of “Iceland Got Talent” and Semifinalist of “The Voice” Iceland installment among other accomplishments achieved by her multi instrumental talented capacity and exquisite yet relatable songwriting skills that delve in depth about love and introspection as it’s evident on her debut album “Everything I Know About Love” released in 2022 including her first EP “Typical of Me”.
Through her body of work Laufey shared her experiences as a young global citizen alternating her life between Reykjavik, Beijing and Washington D.C.. The contrast resulting from the music influences of three very distinct cities, infused her melodies with a wealth of rich sounds, some familiar, some unique giving Laufey’s creation and performing a comforting and exciting jazz-pop vibe that transported the audiences, refining their palate and music expectations.
Expect to truly feel bewitched, by a young goddess of the stage who’s artistry is displayed in all her music and particularly in her sophomore album fan favorite ‘Haunted”. Be prepared for an artist that cares about her craft, engages in conversations with the audience while on stage, giving a personal touch of good rapport and complicity with the concertgoers. After all the songstress is a smart performer that carries under her belt a degree from Boston, Berklee College of Music, as a result of a presidential scholarship, one more evidence of her dedication to perfect the artistry background knowledge and capabilities.
