Saint Viator’s Dean of 25 years is retiring, but the community shouldn’t worry as two of its dedicated faculty have stepped up to fill the role.
Due to the retirement of Dean Deb at the end of last semester, Saint Viator has had two new Deans step up: Mr. Levin and Mrs. McMahon. Both have been working together starting this semester.
This year Mr. Levin has taken on the role of leading the faculty’s professional developments along with now being one of the deans.
“My new positions always keep me entertained!” says Mr.Levin,“From organizing awesome senior events, revitalizing and creating new events and handling student discipline, there is never a dull moment in my day anymore.”
A new role also comes with its challenges and responsibilities. Having to juggle multiple tasks at once throughout the day can be stressful. It took Mr. Levin a couple of weeks to get used to the new flow of things but ultimately he adjusted.
“Google Calendar and a Pull-Down Task Organizing Document are my best friends to help keep my work life in order,” says Levin.
By working together as a team both Mr. Levin and Mrs. McMahon are able to deal with the workload of the new position. By combining strengths and skills, it becomes easier for them to achieve their goals.
“Authenticity, trustworthiness, consistency, and respecting others are the keys to maintaining a grounded perspective no matter the circumstances,” said Mr. Levin, “I have always said that my personality and how I interact with anyone does not change and will not change based on my title,” says Mr. Levin.
Although this added responsibility can come with challenges, Mr. Levin continues to act as a role model in everything that he does.
Mr. Levin feels well aided by the Viator community.
“ I feel supported by students, faculty, staff, and administration to effectively execute all of my responsibilities,” said Mr. Levin, “Everyone has been helpful whenever I need to think about new ideas or handle new situations I have not dealt with before.”
Mr. Levin is eager to continue his role as dean along with Mrs. McMahon as the school year continues.
