Spring sports saw huge successes throughout their season, and many teams placed within conference and state competitions. Boys’ lacrosse triumphed through the spring, competing in 3 rounds of playoffs and in the state championship game. Led by seniors Nicky Pastore, Colton and Cade Faulkner, and Leo Izquierdo, the lacrosse team went 23-2 for the season with a 92 percent win rate. Rising juniors and sophomores Ethan Angst, Michael Tauscher, Keaton Franzen, and Emerson McGrath are names to watch for next season, along with rising seniors Driese Raap, Carson Faulkner, and Kacper Gwizdz. Girls’ lacrosse also did well, placing 3rd in conference and earning a 12-7 record with a 63%-win rate.
Baseball played in the regional championship game and in the ESCC semifinal game, but the highlight of the season was during their team trip to Arizona. Overall, the team went 21-11 with a 63%-win rate. Rising seniors Brian Hatch, Chase Dymon, and Aidan Marshall will lead the team next season along with talent from juniors Alistair Kanyuh, JR Clary, and Ryan Jackson.
Girls’ softball competed in a tough conference and placed 6th overall. They went 15-17 with a 47%-win rate. Senior Brook Cwick and rising senior Hannah Grossman led the team, earning the ESCC All-Conference award. Captains for the ‘23-’24 season include Jillian Bollard, Hannah Grossman, and Alexis Horn.
Girls’ soccer placed in the top three of a difficult conference and won the regional championship game. Overall, the team went 13-11 for a 54%-win rate. Senior Josephine Westerkamp was named an IHSSCA All-State player, senior Bella Scheidecker was named an All-Sectional player, and rising senior Allie Konopka was named an All-Sectional player. The team also made it to the sectional championship game.
Finally, the boys track team was competitive during their season. Both the boy’s tennis team and water polo team competed well during the spring season, and the girls track team was represented by senior Emmi Scales setting new state records for in the 100-meter hurdles.
