A prequel to the original Peter Pan story is coming to Drury Lane Theatre! “Peter and the Starcatcher” is a musical now showing until Oct. 8 at Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace. “Peter and the Starcatcher” is a musical based on the Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson book, “Peter and the Starcatchers.” The book was first published in 2004 and tells the story of a young orphan, Peter, and his friends who are taken aboard a ship called “The Never Land.” There, the boys meet a young girl named Molly and try to uncover the secrets of a magical treasure chest. The treasure chest had been secretly stashed on “The Never Land” at the same time the boys were shoved onto the ship. A couple of days later, the ship is attacked by pirates. Coincidentally, there is a massive storm, causing the ship to sink. The children save the chest and swim to the shore of an island. The magic contained in the chest then gives Peter the ability to fly. He and the boys decide to stay on the island, while Molly returns back home to London. “Peter and the Starcatcher” is a prequel to the children’s classic, Peter Pan.
