Audiences prepare to be awed by ‘Amsterdam’
October 2022 seems to be a month of many releases. Movies like “Halloween Ends”, “Black Adam”, and “White Bird” all will premier some time within the month, in addition to shows like “The Midnight Club”, “From Scratch”, and “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.” But seemingly, the most highly anticipated of these features is “Amsterdam.”
Directed by David O. Russell, this historical drama slash comedy takes inspiration from the 1930s and is about three friends that witness a murder and become suspects themselves. Throughout the movie, they strive to prove their innocence. Though it is unclear what exact events the film is based on, the trailer strongly implies that many of the events are based on a true story. However, what this film has been garnering the highest levels of attention for so far is its spectacular cast.
Actors such as Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington make up the main cast, while the supporting actors include Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Robert De Niro, and even Taylor Swift. After seeing the cast with Christian Bale and Taylor Swift together, people instantly became more excited for the movie’s release. With a stellar cast of actors and a director who has been nominated for four Academy Awards and five Golden Globes, the movie appears to be in great hands.
Even though he hasn’t won any Oscars yet, Russell has been making classics with “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle”, both of which are movies that most audiences responded to with high praise.
Though the official release is yet to come, the initial reactions from audiences indicate that it will most definitely be a movie to remember.
