Beloved annual festivities return to Windy City

Experience the holiday spirit by stepping into a Hallmark-Christmas-movie-esque world!

Emanating Christmas merriment, Christkindlmarket is a delightful place for spending time with family and friends during the holiday season. Along with the locations and dates of the Daley Center in Chicago from November 16 to December 24 and Naperville from November 23 to December 24, Milwaukee is the third and newest setting for the market’s 23nd birthday in 2018. Join Chicago’s Christmas tradition by experiencing these beloved Christmas stands and shops!

With no admission fee, a few activities offered by the market include drinking hot cider or cocoa in one of the annual mugs, browsing the various cuckoo clocks and woodworks such as nutcrackers, shopping the charming and intricate ornaments, munching on sweet strudel and warm pretzels, and enjoying the twinkling lights.
Christkindlmarket—influenced by the original market in 16th century Nuremberg— holds an assortment of Christmas trinkets and is a great destination for purchasing Christmas presents. It captures the essence of a traditional German-style market and has a certain jolly ambience and fairytale-like feel any Christmas lover would appreciate and adore. With a variety of recreation for the entire spectrum of generations, Christkindlmarket is enjoyable for everyone.

A visit from the Christkind on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 2-4 in Chicago and Sundays from 2-4 in Naperville is perfect entertainment for young children. A Santa Claus-like figure, the Christkind, meaning “Christ-child,” is the traditional gift giver in some European countries depicted as having long, curly blonde hair with golden adornments.
Resembling a world inside a snow globe, Christkindlmarket exudes a magical and jovial atmosphere. Vendors offer a selection of products such as toys, decorations, apparel, and jewelry. Food sold in the market—potato pancakes, sausages, desserts, nuts, and candy—embrace popular cuisine in Germany and other European countries.

A visit to Christkindlmarket will make for a high-spirited and lighthearted outing during advent! Be sure to check out Christkindlmarket’s website for more information and a glimpse at the past designs of their customary mugs. This year’s mug design is brand new and heart-shaped. Enjoy the magnificent air that is Christkindlmarket and do not forget to stay warm in the crisp, outdoor setting!
