Summer spotlight on shining plans
It might seem far away, but summer break is right around the corner. Instead of spending your time at home or being unproductive, consider another entertaining option. There are many things to look forward to in the summer including new movies coming out, concerts and festivals.
“I am looking forward to see ‘The Incredibles 2’ in theaters. I used to watch ‘The Incredibles’ a lot when I was little,” said freshman Ashleigh Jarvis-Flinn. The movie is scheduled to release on June 15, 2018.
“I’d like to see the new ‘Star Wars’ movie,” said freshman Jonathan Ngoy. ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ is coming to theaters on May 25, 2018. Other movies that are coming out this summer include ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ on June 22, and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ on May 4, 2018. Seeing a movie in theaters is a great activity to do over the summer. Another great option of a summer activity is to see a live concert or show.
“I’m definitely going to a Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert, which is widely known to have the best brass section in the world,” said Ngoy. This well-known group performs classical music at Orchestra Hall in Chicago. This is a great option if you enjoy formal concerts and orchestra music. If classical music is not your style, you can go to a festival or pop concert.
“I might go to Lollapalooza with my brother,” said Jarvis-Flinn. Lollapalooza is an annual music festival featuring alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip-hop and other styles of music. It also has craft booths, along with dance and comedy performances. This will be taking place from August 2-5 in Grant Park this summer. Some pop concerts at the United Center over the summer include Harry Styles on June 30, Shakira on August 3 and Sam Smith on August 15.
Whether you enjoy movies, classical music or hip-hop music, make sure to do something fun over the summer!
