Halftime performance wins at Super Bowl
In the midst of the greatly anticipated Super Bowl 50, what do all fans need? A musical extravaganza, of course. And who better to give it to us than Coldplay? As far as halftime shows go, this is one to remember. The show opened excitedly with “Viva La Vida,” an obvious crowd pleaser based on the fist-pumping fans. Continuing to please viewers everywhere, Coldplay moved on to the hit song “Paradise.” As the crowd swung its arms to the beat of the song, people at home smiled as the lead singer, Chris Martin, bent to eye level of those right near the stage. Coldplay transitioned to “Adventure of a Lifetime,” and Chris Martin said, “Wherever you are, we’re in this together.” In saying this, Coldplay united American football lovers as they watched the show, bringing emotion and passion into their hearts while Chris Martin serenaded them.
However, just as it began to look like a regular performance, out popped Bruno Mars to perform “Uptown Funk,” and the crowd went wild. All eyes were drawn to Bruno Mars as he danced, sang and received cheers from all across America. Many of these cheers were due to the extravagant costumes worn by dancers and children bands playing along to the song. As eyes were drawn to the flashing colors of the costumes, none other than Beyonce makes her way onto the field to sing her new song “Formation.” As Beyoncé danced in very high heels, the crowd erupted into immense applause. The two singers met in the middle of the stage to take part in a dance-off, making people scream and cheer as they watch the two legends battled it out. All of a sudden, Coldplay took over again and began to play “Fix You.” In honor of this 50th Super Bowl, the halftime show celebrated 50 years of music during the game. On the stage clips from previous performances by Katy Perry, James Brown, Rolling Stone, Michael Jackson, The Black Eyed Peas and Beyoncé herself were shown to everyone watching. The three singers ended “Fix You” together, uniting a nation divided by the Panthers and Broncos. What better way to split Super Bowl 50 with three hit performances by three hit artists? Ending on the uniting note of love, these three artists did just that as they concluded “Fix You” and love was spelled out across the fans sitting in the stadium. This resulted in tumultuous applause, a perfect end to the exciting 50th halftime show.
