The recent controversy surrounding the new star wars movie has split the fan base almost down the middle, some choosing to view Disney’s acquisition of the franchise will only lead to disappointment, while others have a more positive view, choosing to think that Disney and the producers know how important this next film is to the fans and will try to make it as good as possible. One of the primary areas for concern was the recent prequel trilogy which disappointed many viewers and has become the butt of many jokes within the fandom. However with J.J Abrams, the man responsible for such projects as the recent Star Trek movies and the “lost” series, heading the production of the new movie many people have a new hope, that his vision for the movie will live up to George Lucas’ legacy. In addition to the juicy teaser trailers (which might I add are extremely well made and provoked a pang of nostalgia from me when they showed some of the original characters returning, but are edited well enough so that nothing about the story is spoiled), and well timed marketing, a fan recently used his make-a-wish to see the movie before it was released with some of the actors, upon exiting the theatre someone asked him what his thoughts were and he said “it’s freakin awesome!” so with all the hype surrounding the movie and the snippets we’ve seen so far, it should be safe to say that the movie looks pretty awesome, with new characters like Kylo Ren, BB-8 and seeing the return of favorites like Han solo and Chewbacca being played by their original actors gives hope that we’re in for a movie that will live up to and surpass the expectations and become the best installment in the series to date. All of the returning actors and new chapters lets us know that this movie will be full of familiar faces and some new ones to freshen up the series which will allow fans old and new to appreciate this next chapter of Star Wars. All things considered, it’s hard to believe that this movie could be anything but amazing.
