“Star Wars” appears on horizon

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the newest movie in the franchise, comes out December 18, 2015. The movie has been in filming for over six months and is almost ready for viewing in theaters around the world.

The movie is set to take place thirty years after “Return of the Jedi.” Many old faces will return, such as Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, and Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. New characters are to be added as well, starring John Boyega as Finn, Daisy Ridley as Rey, and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren.

While shooting the film there have been some small setbacks. Many photos and plot features were leaked. Most importantly, Harrison Ford injured his ankle. The injury was caused by a hydraulic spaceship door closing on his foot. He was taken to the local hospital and started working as soon as possible.

Although it may seem different having Disney take over, it is not the first time that George Lucas did not direct the “Star Wars” movies. He directed “A New Hope” in 1977 and the prequels from 1999-2005. Disney bought “Star Wars” from Lucasfilm in 2012 for over 4 billion dollars.

The First Order and The Resistance have taken the place of The Empire and The Rebellion. The First Order are an evil group under the influence of Supreme Leader Snoke. The Resistance is a group created by Han Solo and Princess Leia. The Dark Side of the Force created a new faction as well, named the Knights of Ren.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be released on December 18, 2015 in a galaxy not so far, far away.
