Imagine you’re talking to your friends in homeroom about a club you are all excited to go to during C block, when suddenly the clock hits 11:10 and you’re free to go and enjoy your Lion Block. You and your friends are hungry and decide to go to lunch at the start of B Block so that you can eat before your club meeting. You walk in and hear the noise of Querbes packed with students, and you try to find a table. You and your friends walk around, but there’s nowhere to go. You look over to the right side of the room—no spots. You loop around the back of the room—still none. You continue to the left side and still cannot find a table as you see everyone else enjoying their lunches. You find a table with some of your other friends, and they offer to have you sit with them, but there aren’t any free chairs to bring over. Desperate to find a place to eat, you go to Burkes in hopes of finding a spot, but even here, there’s no place for you. You end up not eating lunch and going to your club. This issue is being experienced by many Viator students every day, and we need to fix it.
The lack of seating during lunch is becoming a problem; at one point, my friends and I had to get permission to eat outside just so we could eat our lunch. There are some simple solutions to this problem. One solution may be bringing in the folding chair rack. This would allow students to grab a folding chair and bring it to a table. Then, when the students are done eating, they bring their chairs back to the rack. This way, students would have more seating flexibility in Querbes and not make it feel crammed.
The issue of lunch seating can affect all students at any point this school year. One simple change can make eating lunch more comfortable for everyone. Let’s make lunchtime a better experience for all students!
