The dance team has recently celebrated a huge accomplishment. Over these past couple weekends, they have been performing at competitions and were able to qualify for IDTA state and for IHSA state. They first competed at regionals and then won regionals. A couple of weeks ago, the dance team qualified for IDTA state. Just more recently, over this past weekend, they qualified for IHSA state.
“I am very proud of our team for qualifying for state, as it was our goal to get there at the end of our season,” said freshman dancer Addy Besenhofer. Addy won a rising star award at the competition where the team was able to qualify for IDTA state.
“We were put in a pretty hard sectional this year with teams being less than one point away from each other, so we weren’t sure if we would make it to state again or not. But we had one of our best performances and qualified, placing 5th out of 17 teams, and I could not be more proud of my team,” said senior dancer Elle Bradford.
Although the dance team did not make it to the second day of the IDTA state competition, they have another state competition in the upcoming weeks. The walkout for the IDTA state was bolstered by school spirit and helped the dance team receive the recognition they deserve. Their morning and afternoon practices are proving to be successful as they look to compete in the next state competition.
