Have you ever thought about playing pickleball at your school? Well now you have the chance! Two sophomore students, Kate Ziebka and Kalin McCrea, have been thinking about introducing a pickleball club to their school. They enjoy playing pickleball with their friends. Although not all of the details have been made official yet, they have a very good idea of what will take place. They know that the pickleball events will occur in either the Mahoney gym or the Cahill gym during Flex time after school. The people in charge of the club will set up the pickleball nets in the gym so that everyone can play together. This club will be run by Kalin, Kate, and other co-leaders that want to help, and the moderator of this club will be Ms. Slezak. Kate and Kalin are starting this club because they believe it is a fun sport for us to play with our friends.
“Kalin and I wanted to start the pickleball club so that we could enjoy playing a fun game together that we both like,” said Kate. “We also know that many others like to play it. So, we decided to make it a club at Viator.” Once the two students came up with the idea, they immediately shared it with Ms. Slezak to hear her opinion. She backed he founding of the club, and assisted them in its formation.
Kate and Kalin also made sure that other people would be interested in joining the pickleball club. So, they went around the school and received signatures from different students who were interested in joining. They needed 15 signatures to be allowed to start the club, and ended up obtaining even more than that. Kate and Kalin believe it will be a fun and exciting experience, allowing many others to have as much fun as them!
