It’s a great time during the year to participate in a retreat. Retreats are a great opportunity for one to grow emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually. Experiencing a retreat brings memories that will last a lifetime and will impact one’s life, and truly change them as a person. Different retreats have different topics they prioritize, but that truly doesn’t change its full meaning.
“My favorite part about going on retreats is getting food in bags for foreign countries,” said freshman Anthony Woodard. “It really helps you connect with other peers.”
Retreats open up one’s eyes, enabling seeing the world as it was meant to be. They tackle challenges with a fresh perspective, sometimes even bringing someone closer towards their goals and dreams. It could grow and improve one’s faith and relationship with God by teaching students different things. Making friends or strengthening friendships can be a large part of the retreat experience.
Retreats have many benefits which are useful; they show how great of a community exists and how growth can be experienced together to achieve dreams.
“A lot of the stuff is aimed at what you want to do in the future,” said sophomore Jacob Bondy. “I was in Mr. Hansen’s group and we learned a lot about what we should do to have a good future, whether by being a good Christian or a good person overall.”
Some of the upcoming retreats at Saint Viator, which anyone can participate in are the 24 hour Quest Retreat off-campus. New people meet and important life and faith topics are discussed. Quest is designed to discover yourself, others, and God. Only freshmen and sophomores can participate in this retreat which will be held March 4-5, 2024.
The Kairos Retreat is also an amazing opportunity to see the value of Christian faith lived and experienced as a community and to examine life freely, openly, and honestly. It is a 3.5 day retreat where only seniors and juniors can participate. See campus ministry for any questions. Retreats are amazing experiences that will change lives and bring one closer to God, dreams, goals, and the community.
