Saint Viator offers many options for extracurricular activities and sports. What about unique sports outside of Saint Viator? Of the roughly 200 sports in the world, even the Olympics only covers 40. 

There are unique sports in many different countries. Lesser known sports in this category are underwater hockey, hurling, and roller derby. First up is underwater hockey. It is hockey, but on the floor of a swimming pool where players wear slippers on submerged ice. They play with a small stick and a puck which is also submerged. Next is hurling. Hurling is a combination of soccer, lacrosse, and hockey. It is played with a ball and a curved wooden stick. The goal for both the sports is to score more points than the opponent. Lastly, there is roller derby. Roller derby is a contact sport played on roller skates. The goal is to out lap the opponent team. Most of these unique sports are a few sports combined. Next, there are foreign sports that are traditional in that area.

Traditional sports, which originate in foreign areas are a unique kind of game. Some sports include kabaddi, sepak takraw, and gatka. Kabaddi is a south Asian sport which involves players trying to tag and tackle members of the opposing team. Its goal is to get the most tags to win. Next, sepak takraw. Sepak takraw is a sport similar to volleyball, also from south Asia, but it is played with a different ball and players cannot use their hands. The goal of the game is to score more points than the opposing team. Lastly, Gatka, a traditional sport which is a form of martial arts. Its goal is to defeat the opponent in hand-to-hand combat. These are just a few of the many unique and foreign sports in the world.
