TV shows today seem to have almost the same story. If it’s set up in a high school, or the plot is too over dramatic, the show is something we can’t really relate to. “This is Us” is different. “This Is Us” is about three siblings, twins and an adoptive brother, and their parent’s life. Kate has struggled with weight her whole life, Kevin is neglected because he had no outward issues and Randall is the gifted one, but also the outsider of the three. When telling their stories, the show gets a little confusing. It jumps around from when they’re adults to teens, or from adults to when they were children. Getting into the description of the show, the main point is focusing on the struggles that they are going through during their adult life. Once the episode presents that struggle, it goes back in time to their teenage or younger years and relates to that topic. Along with learning about the three siblings, you get to see the upbeat story on how their parents, Rebecca and Jack, met and how their relationship influenced their children’s lives.

As everyone has their struggles in life, the characters have their own in their everyday lives. Randall has always been the smartest of the three, but that isn’t the only thing that makes him the odd one out. Randall was adopted by Rebecca and Jack the same day the twins were born. The older he got, he always had one question on his mind: would he ever get to meet his father? In high school, everyone’s problems had started to get slightly worse. Then their parents started to develop their own problems, adding some more stress onto their kids. As the show goes on, more and more pressure is on the family to fix their problems and work their way through life.

Season two started September 26 and had everyone at the edge of their seats, waiting to see what curveball would be thrown at them next. “This Is Us” will have you laughing one minute and then crying the next. It truly shows the struggles in life and those who can help you.
