Service Spotlight: Amalia Sordo-Palacios

“It gives me satisfaction to be serving people one on one,” said junior Amalia Sordo-Palacios, who spends her time seeking service opportunities in her community.

She has completed a number of unique activities ranging from volunteering at an animal hospital to helping landscape at a Habitat for Humanity project to using her bilingualism to help at the Catholic Charities Health Fair at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Additionally, as a member of Justice League, she has participated in service trips through Saint Viator, including visiting a detention center.

“With most of my service, I get to interact with people and see the direct impact I have. It makes it feel more personal,” said Sordo-Palacios. “I have taken out that I really like serving people but there are so many other choices for service depending on what you like.”
