Social media showdown
Twitter versus Snapchat
Eased by the constant access provided by mobile devices, teenagers are believed to spend over two hours online daily. Teenagers use many different social networks, such as Snapchat and Instagram, to keep in contact with friends and family members. With the availability of so many different social networks, how do you know which one will work best for you? Every social network has its own pros and cons to consider.
For instance, Snapchat is a great way to keep in touch with friends by sending pictures back and forth. It allows you to see your friends’ faces, and you can even call and text through the app. It also has many fun features, such as creative filters and editing options. It does, however, have some downsides. For example, the app always crashes and can be very confusing at times, especially when adding friends. You cannot search friends by their real names, only their usernames or their phone number. Also, Snapchat can be a big distraction to teenagers. It is very hard to fight the urge to check your phone while doing homework or chores.
Another common social network is Instagram, which is also a fantastic way to see what your friends are up to. Instagram is a go-to-option for teenagers that is visually pleasing. It features fast, easy and efficient photo sharing with people who follow your profile. You can also find videos that could be helpful to you, such as cooking tutorials and workout videos. Nevertheless, like every social network, Instagram has some cons. For instance, Instagrammers are expected to live up to a certain standard. Pictures have to be edited perfectly and contain a clever caption in order to get more likes. Also, before posting a picture, you must think about if it could affect your future. If a post contains negative images and a college sees it, they may not accept you. Responsibility also comes with owning an Instagram account. Every different social network comes with its ups and downs. Acknowledging these can help you find which one will work best for you.
In weighing the pros and cons, Snapchat is the best social network app because it allows people to interact with friends from all over the world. In a way, users can also show their friends who they are and how they view the world through the different features offered, such as the 24 hour stories. Snapchat is a more personal approach compared to Instagram.
