Finding Dory

Only 13 years after Finding Nemo, the long awaited sequel, Finding Dory, made a splash in theaters on June 17, 2016. Pixar once again lived up to its reputation, creating a film that acknowledges all ages, whether by the state of the art animation, hysterical cast (Who doesn’t love Ellen Degeneres?), or nostalgia it leaves older audience members feeling. With a slightly sadder plot than Finding Nemo, Dory travels the ocean looking for her parents, facing continuous setbacks. Frequent flashbacks reveal an adorable, big-eyed baby Dory who draws an enamored, “Awww,” from audience members with every appearance. Though familiar characters from Finding Nemo make cameos in the movie, it is the new faces that steal the spotlight. From Dory’s childhood friends Bailey the beluga and Destiny the whale shark to cynical octopus Hank, each new character proves they belong in the ever optimistic Dory’s life.
