Goodbye “Bad Blood”

Bastille's new album marks new territory in their music

Overall, this album can have a track or two for everyone to enjoy.

After a what seemed like millennium waiting for the “Wild World” album by the British indie pop band Bastille to come out, it is out, alive and well. To be exact, it has been three whole years since the band’s debut album “Bad Blood” came out. However, this is perhaps due to the band experimenting with a new sound. This album has a completely different sound than the previous album. It is composed of many more guitar parts and uplifting melodies than “Bad Blood” had. “Wild World” has a much more upbeat, and cheery sound while retaining the band’s intellectual and sorrowful lyrics. One of the main differences between the band’s two albums is the lyrics’ content . For example, the newest album is more about relevant and current events like in the song “The Currents”. This song describes the frightening actions taken by the world’s leaders in today’s society. While, in their debut album, the lyrics cover more historical events or literature, like in the song “Icarus” or “Pompeii”. Overall, this album can have a track or two for everyone to enjoy. If you’re into a more lively, spirited tune, give their song “Send them Off!” a listen. Or if you enjoy a good melodramatic, and emotional song, “Two Evils “ or “Act of Kindness” is definitely worth your time. The record starts out with the hit single “Good Grief” which has an uplifting beat paired with heartbreaking lyrics about loss of a loved one. It ends on the heartfelt song called “The Anchor”. Overall, the album is one emotional ballad that depicts the sadder emotions in a way that can be related to by most. It is for sure worth a listen.
